They are seeking an experienced Manufacturing / Purchasing Engineer to join their operations team and take ownership of all manufacturing-related procurement.
This is a key role within a hands-on environment ideal for someone with a strong mechanical background who thrives on ensuring materials components and outsourced machining arrive on time to spec and within budget.
The Role
Manage end-to-end purchasing activities from sourcing raw materials to securing machining and secondary processing services.
Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliability quality and cost efficiency.
Collaborate closely with fabrication production and stores teams to maintain optimal stock levels.
Negotiate pricing and delivery schedules while keeping quality standards uncompromised.
Ensure all goods and services meet technical and quality specifications.
Maintain accurate records and compliance with company procurement policies.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across supplier performance and internal processes.
Key Requirements
Proven background in manufacturing purchasing within a mechanical engineering environment.
Ability to interpret technical drawings BOMs and engineering specifications.
Strong understanding of machining processes and raw materials.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
ERP experience (Sage 200 or similar) and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
A proactive detail-driven mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
