Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Environmental Specialist (Level 2) to provide land environmental compliance support for the companys generation and transmission facilities and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of environmental regulations compliance programs and risk management along with the ability to lead environmental initiatives and ensure operational excellence. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent analytical communication and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities Environmental Compliance -
Monitor and ensure compliance with federal state and local environmental regulations including programs related to waste management profiling reporting and hazardous materials handling.

Conduct environmental audits and assessments to identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of environmental laws and regulations (e.g. RCRA CERCLA Hazardous Waste Solid Waste PCBs) and proactively implement required changes.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure environmental requirements are consistently met.

Support reporting and documentation for compliance programs and regulatory submissions.
Environmental Risk Management -
Assess and mitigate environmental risks associated with company operations.

Provide training guidance and support to employees on environmental best practices and safety protocols.

Recommend and implement strategies to minimize environmental impacts across operations.

Participate in incident investigations corrective action planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
Project Support & Leadership -
Manage and support multiple environmental projects simultaneously.

Serve as a subject matter resource on environmental compliance and permitting requirements.

Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies contractors and internal project teams.

Ensure all documentation audits and permits are completed in accordance with company and regulatory timelines.
Qualifications -
Bachelors degree in Environmental Science Environmental Engineering or a related field.

Experience or working knowledge of land environmental compliance regulations such as RCRA CERCLA Hazardous Waste Solid Waste and PCBs.

Strong knowledge of federal state and local environmental regulations and permitting processes.

Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Excellent analytical problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders.

Proficiency with environmental management software and data analysis tools.

Professional certifications such as Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER are a plus.
