About the job
Advantra is partnering with a seed-stage behavioral health tech startup in Washington DC to hire a Frontend Engineer to build user-facing interfaces that simplify complex AI workflows for clinicians.
About the role
You will own and implement the frontend of JotPsych translating Figma designs into production-ready React TypeScript applications. You will work on note editors dashboards onboarding flows billing and prescription interfaces and performance monitoring. You will collaborate closely with the product designer and contribute to a smooth accessible and performant user experience.
Responsibilities

Build and maintain complex frontend interfaces for clinicians using React and TypeScript.

Implement Note Editor 2.0 with inline AI suggestions smart snippets and keyboard-first interactions.

Develop adaptable patient dashboards and interactive onboarding flows.
-
Implement billing and prescription workflows to reduce administrative burden.
-
Ensure performance observability and reliability through metrics traces and performance budgets.
-
Collaborate with product design to translate mocks into thoughtful production-ready UI.

Work on early frontend epics like real-time streaming editors customizable layout engines and mobile-ready visit recorders.

Write automated tests using React Testing Library Cypress or Playwright.

Advocate for accessibility and clear documentation of design and frontend decisions.
Core requirements
-
6 years of professional frontend experience.
-
3 years of experience with React and TypeScript.
-
Experience translating Figma designs into production-ready applications.
-
Strong knowledge of Redux Toolkit (RTK) and RTK Query.
-
Familiarity with client-side caching and invalidation strategies.
-
Experience with automated testing frameworks.
-
Passion for accessibility performance and UX quality.
-
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
-
Willingness to travel to the office twice per month initially then monthly.

Startup mindset with flexibility and curiosity.
Nice to have

Hands-on experience with MediaRecorder or Web Audio APIs.

Experience with Service Workers or building browser extensions.

Familiarity with real-time streaming interfaces.

Prior experience in health tech or AI-powered products.
