Join a high-functioning and cohesive team in a 15 bed ICU dedicated to the care of infants and children with small lungs including related ECMO and surgical conditions. The team defines and focuses on the best in lung protective ventilation recovery from hypoxic-ischemic stress brain protection and frequently employs high quality ECMO to support lung recovery and growth. Diseases treated include congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) a variety of forms of acute neonatal and pediatric respiratory failure requiring ECMO related surgical conditions in these patients and complex airway support. A significant number of patients also have cardiac defects which complicate their care and expand the opportunities for learning. Surgical procedures including CDH repair and ECMO cannulation/decannulation occur regularly in this ICU. The unit is nationally and internationally recognized and most families come from beyond Florida. Applicants can anticipate high levels of care consistency and job satisfaction as cause and effect of helping create amazing outcomes in these critically ill infants and children.

Staffed 24/7 with critical care boarded surgical and medical attendings and sometimes critical care fellows the providers can expect a supportive environment with graduated independence and leadership that is dedicated to their educational development. Procedures include intubations chest tubes line placements and minor surgical procedures.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The APP lead will work collaboratively with the Clinical Manager of Advanced Practice and the Physician Chief of the Department or Institute they oversee. He/she will have a proficient understanding and vision of the APPs scope education certification and role utilization here at JHACH and at the affiliate organizations. The APP lead will participate in developing structured APP associated metrics for assessing outcomes of APP care and quality metrics within the care model delivery team; in ensuring that APPs meet various state and federal regulatory agency requirements and ensure that APPs participate in cost-savings and revenue-generating practices. This position contributes to the goals of the department by being accountable for the delivery of compassionate and safe care within the scope of practice as defined by the Florida State Statues and JHACH policy.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages assigned staff and functions by assigning work developing work procedures consistent with organizational policy establishing work schedules and monitoring work performance performed by subordinates in order to meet agreed-upon goals objectives and target dates at Affiliate locations.
  • Performs lead functions by contributing to interviewing and hiring staff members; providing or arranging for training for subordinates; evaluating performance; and recommending or initiating personnel actions such as promotions transfers merit salary increases or disciplinary action in order to ensure adequate and competent staffing as well as initiating or recommending responses to employee grievances at affiliate locations.
  • Ensure that APPs meet or exceed various local state and federal regulatory agency requirements.
  • Ensure that APPs throughout JHACH have evidence-based practices that support cost-savings and revenue generating initiatives.
  • Collaborates with the Clinical Manager of Advanced Practice to create support or lead initiatives to improve the work environment of APPs throughout JHACH and affiliate locations.
  • Support the shared leadership model of shared governance and actively participates in organizational meetings and committees.
  • Maintain a current clinical practice off set by the number of direct reports and division responsibilities 90% clinical with 10% administrative.

Qualifications:

  • Current Florida State Licensure as ARNP or PA
  • Current BLS and PALS/NRP
  • Clinical Masters or Doctorate Degree in Nursing or Masters in Physician Assistant Studies.
  • 5 years progressively responsible related experience
  • Current National Certification as a: Pediatric Nurse Practitioner- Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Acute Care Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Physician Assistant.
  • Must have Acute Care certifications.

Salary Range: Minimum 54.62/hour - Maximum 84.66/ will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
