Job Summary

We at Leggett & Platt Inc. are searching for a Staff Accountant within our Financial Reporting team to help support our business. As a global-diversified manufacturing company its sometimes hard to explain all the different things we do. We like to say were the biggest company no one has ever heard of. As a Staff Accountant you will have the opportunity to interact with and support other departments and staff within the business. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by analyzing and reconciling financial transactions. The team you will be working with is collaborative and values hard work.

So what will you be doing as a Staff Accountant

Record financial transactions in assigned areasParticipate in the preparation of the Companys consolidated financial statements SEC filings and Audit Committee materialsAnalyze and reconcile Balance Sheet and Income Statement activityCollaborate with other departments across Corporate and operating locationsSupport internal and external auditsPrepare annual financial statements for benefit plan auditsAssist with special projects

To be successful in this role youll need:

Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance (minimum of 15 hours of accounting)Cumulative 3.30 GPA and 3.50 GPA in majorStrong understanding of accounting principles Excellent written and verbal communication skillsTime management and prioritization abilitiesTeam-oriented mindset (in both a remote or an in-office setting)Problem-solving skillsAbility to support cross-functional teams (Finance Tax Credit IT etc.)Excel proficiency with formulas and large datasets

Things we consider a plus:

  • 2 years of accounting experience especially with a publicly traded company or a public CPA firm
  • CMA and/ or CPA designation
  • Masters Degree
  • Experience with :
    • HFM (financial consolidation)
    • Microsoft Dynamics AX (general ledger)
    • Artificial Intelligence Programs
    • Power BI
    • Workiva (filings with the SEC)
