Job Summary

Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Clinical Affiliation Coordinator supports the Advanced Medical Imaging (AMI) Program by coordinating student clinical placements across the nation. This position coaches online students in identifying appropriate clinical rotations establishes and maintains affiliation agreements with clinical sites and serves as the liaison between students faculty and external partners. The coordinator also assists in recruiting and vetting new clinical agencies and provides ongoing support for the assessment and quality assurance of clinical experiences.

Department Overview:

The School of Medical Imaging and Radiologic Sciences (SMIRS) employs 11 full-time faculty 45 adjunct faculty 35 affiliate faculty and 5 staff. The educational experience in SMIRS programs promotes health advocacy interdisciplinary collaboration life-long learning and growth as a healthcare professional. Degree plans offered by the school are all at the bachelor level. Campus-based primary-entry BS degree programs include diagnostic radiology (DR) diagnostic medical sonography (DMS) magnetic resonance imaging (MR) and interventional cardiology (IC). Campus-based associate degree transfer and certificate programs for credentialed imaging technologists include computed tomography (CT) interventional radiology (IR) mammography and vascular ultrasound. The SMIRS offers online associate to BS degree advancement and certificate programs with clinical placement local to students in DMS MR IC CT IR mammography and vascular ultrasound. The school also offers a non-clinical online associate to BS degree program for students wishing to advance their degree in Imaging Sciences. The school aims to be the educational resource students need to meet their educational and career goals. The programs and students thrive due to the incredible support of our affiliate clinical partners and commitment of faculty and staff to maintaining a positive and welcoming environment to work and grow.
Endeavors of school faculty involved in research include radiation dose and detection devices MRI DTI pre and post repetitive head impacts post-concussive blood-based biomarkers and cardiac rehabilitation program impact on occurrence of subsequent myocardial infarcts.

Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills policies and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Essential Functions:

Affiliation and Site Management (60%)

  • Identify and recruit new clinical partners across the U.S.
  • Draft route and manage agency/college affiliation agreements.
  • Maintain accurate affiliate site databases and records.
  • Coordinate preceptor orientation and ongoing site quality evaluations.
  • Collaborate sharing of clinical affiliation records for updates to clinical manuals and forms.
  • Monitor student progress through clinical site onboarding and orientation.
  • Collaborate with General Counsel to manage clinical partnership contracts.

Clinical Coordination and Student Support (35%)

  • Serve as initial liaison between the AMI program and clinical sites nationwide.
  • Guide students through the process of identifying and securing clinical rotations.
  • Conduct pre-placement planning meetings and ongoing progress check-ins.
  • Mediate and resolve concerns raised by students faculty or clinical partners related to affiliation agreements.
  • Advise on clinical affiliation agreement issues in coordination with Program Directors.
  • Support faculty functioning as clinical liaisons during the establishing of clinical placement.
  • Mid-level paralegal work experience and background.
  • Extensive employment experience with contract writing and management.
  • Effective experience in client-based relationship building.
  • High attention to details specific to following federal/state laws regulations policies and practices.
  • Conduct student pre-placement planning conferences for clinical experiences.
  • Seek and secure new AMI clinical experience sites.
  • Assist with coordinating clinical experiences by confirming links between students/department supervisors/modality preceptors for online AMI students.
  • Secure approval and obtain signatures for agency/college affiliation agreements.
  • Maintain a clinical affiliate database with current and accurate program clinical affiliate/agreement data.
  • Assist with coordination of clinical preceptor orientation.
  • Monitor placement of students learning objectives/outcome assessment data and performance evaluations of students in conjunction with the AMI Program Directors.
  • Create and update clinical forms and clinical experience manuals.
  • Alert the AMI Program Directors regarding student and agency concerns.
  • Assist with the ongoing assessment of the clinical site and preceptor quality for clinical experience in conjunction with the AMI Program Directors.
  • Communicate with the AMI Degree Coordinator and the Program Directors regarding student progress throughout clinical experiences.
  • Advise counsel and engage in problem-solving with faculty liaisons clinical preceptors and/or students regarding clinical experience issues and challenges as directed by Program Directors.
  • Trouble-shoot and mediate questions and concerns from clinical agency heads clinical preceptors and students.
  • Provide support to faculty teaching clinical experiences courses and functioning as Faculty Liaison.
  • Serve on assigned college/school/department committees.

5% of the time the Clinical Affiliation Coordinator:

  • Support program operations by collaborating with internal staff faculty and departments as well as external partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills; ability to multitask and delegate effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong collaboration skills; experience working with faculty staff and external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to support students preferably in healthcare-related fields.
  • Proficient in online program delivery and virtual communication platforms (e.g. Zoom).
  • Comfortable managing virtual relationships with students and partners.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (Excel Word Google Docs).
  • Understanding of transfer credit policies articulation agreements and admissions standards.
  • Public speaking interviewing and student advising/counseling skills.
  • Experience in planning and executing recruitment events.

MinimumQualifications:

Bachelors Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and 5 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Mid-level paralegal work experience and background.
  • Extensive employment experience with contract writing and management.
  • Effective experience in client-based relationship building.
  • High attention to details specific to following federal/state laws regulations policies and practices.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary range is $55057.60 to$68827.20 annually and is commensurate with State University provides a best-in-classbenefits package including (but not limited to):
