Position Overview
Leidos is seeking a Naval Configuration Management Specialist to join our DDG 51 Support Team supporting PMS 400D and the Superintendent of Shipbuilding Bath (SOSB). In this role you will ensure engineering and design changes are properly implemented aboard ship verify as-built conditions and support the Navys acceptance process.
This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week onsite in our Bath office with the flexibility to work remotely for the remaining 2 days.
Primary Responsibilities
Verify the proper implementation of design and engineering changes aboard ship.
Collaborate with the SSBA Quality Department to identify and document incomplete changes prior to Navy compartment acceptance.
Review and evaluate engineering and design changes for accuracy and applicability to specific hulls.
Participate in shipboard inspections including shock inspections and document as-built discrepancies in a government-controlled database.
Report inspection findings and configuration discrepancies to PMS 400D and SOSB leadership.
Support the development of Trial Cards to document incomplete or incorrect change execution.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum of a BA degree or equivalent experience and less than 2 years prior relevant experience in ship design configuration management acquisition operations or lifecycle sustainment.
Hands-on ship construction experience including familiarity with shipboard installation repair or modification processes.
Solid understanding of ship design drawings engineering documentation and technical specifications.
Proven ability to inspect verify and document engineering changes accurately and efficiently.
Strong written and verbal communication interpersonal analytical problem-solving and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook).
U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a government security clearance; having an active Secret clearance is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Broad knowledge of ship construction processes trades and shipyard operations.
Experience participating in shock inspections sea trials or shipboard verifications.
Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams quality departments and government stakeholders.
Demonstrated commitment to safety quality and regulatory compliance in ship construction or maintenance environments.
