Position Summary

The Director of Nursing (DON) leads our nursing department and plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality compassionate care for every resident. The DON oversees clinical operations provides leadership to nursing staff ensures regulatory compliance and promotes a positive team culture rooted in our mission and values.

Responsibilities

• Plan organize and direct all nursing services in accordance with federal state and facility policies.

• Provide clinical leadership and support to nursing staff fostering teamwork and professional growth.

• Oversee care delivery on all units including the ventilator unit ensuring quality and safety.

• Work closely with ADON and MDS/Careplan coordinator while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement resident-centered care plans.

• Maintain compliance with CMS regulations infection control and quality assurance programs.

• Participate in hiring training evaluation and mentoring of nursing staff.

• Assist staffing specialist with staffing scheduling as needed.

• Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives and survey readiness efforts.

• Build strong relationships with residents families and staff to uphold a culture of trust and respect.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of Iowa.

• Minimum of 3 years of nursing leadership experience in skilled nursing or long-term care.

• Previous DON or ADON experience preferred.

• Strong leadership communication and organizational skills.

• Knowledge of CMS regulations PDPM and quality measures.

• Passion for person-centered care and small-community living.
