The Johns Hopkins Hospitals Pediatric Oncology Inpatient Unit provides specialized care for children and young adults with various cancers and hematologic conditions. Our patients include those with leukemia (ALL and AML) brain tumors sarcomas (rhabdomyosarcoma osteosarcoma Ewings sarcoma) neuroblastoma Wilms tumor and other malignancies as well as patients being treated for non-malignant diseases such as sickle cell disease aplastic anemia thalassemia and SCID. We offer cutting-edge treatments including CAR-T therapy and immunotherapy providing comprehensive physical psychological and spiritual care from birth to 26 years of age.

Our team works closely with colleagues in Radiation Oncology and Surgery to ensure continuity of care emphasizing patient-centered family-centered and high-quality nursing care. Role: Pediatric Oncology Inpatient Unit Nurse

Shifts: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts

Responsibilities:

Provide comprehensive nursing care to pediatric oncology patients including assessments medication administration symptom management and emotional support.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.

Educate patients and families about treatments medications and discharge planning.

Monitor for and respond to clinical changes including managing complications and emergencies.

Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of patient care activities.

Foster a safe supportive and child-friendly environment conducive to healing and comfort.

Qualifications:

Associates Degree in Nursing required; applicants enrolled in an accredited BSN/MSN program within one year of hire and planning to complete within five years will also be considered.

Active Maryland or Compact RN license required.

BLS CPR certification required.

APHON Chemotherapy/Biotherapy provider certification required

2 years of Pediatric Oncology and Cell therapy RN experience required

Salary Range: Minimum 36.31/hour - Maximum 56.28/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
