Job Summary
Basic Function
HF Sinclair in El Dorado KS is seeking to fill Operator Start positions. This position will be responsible for working in assigned process unit role in and around the Facility that include but are not limited to: Operations Units Hydrogen Plants Boiler Wastewater Treatment Plant and Tank Farm. Employee is expected to follow established procedures
Job Duties
- Supports the refinery safety process and maintains on the job safety vigilance
- Works rotating shifts including days nights weekends and holidays as scheduled
- Responds to callouts and holdovers
- Reviews daily orders at shift relief
- Checks instruments records rounds in PM schedule checks equipment and assures that the operation and equipment conform to operating requirements
- Operates equipment manually and/or by instrument/computer control maintaining temperatures pressures levels and/or other process variables to meet planned production and quality
- Fires furnaces operates pumps sets lines and manifolds changes blinds and jump-overs operates compressors gauges tanks draws samples runs control tests sends samples to the Lab adjusts chemical injection rates zeroes meters changes tests alarms.
- Repairs equipment as required and within ability to accomplish repairs safely and requests maintenance support as necessary
- Performs other work such as lubricating equipment cleanup and housekeeping
- Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor as determined from timeto time in their sole and complete discretion.

Education Level
A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Required Skills
Basic computer skills mechanically inclined understanding and ability to comply with all Federal State Local and Company regulations policies guidelines and procedures including use of tools (hand tools and power tools) and operation(s) of scissor lift/man-lift. Required to complete all required certifications and training to know and become competent in basic tasks under direct supervision while completing classroom and CBT training. Ability to effectively communicate with others (written and verbal) basic reading and writing skills with the ability to perform basic mathematical have a valid driver licenses.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility
Work Conditions
Renewable refinery including but not limited to chemicals pressure vessel tanks rotating equipment and working in confined spaces and elevated surfaces. Subject to all temperatures and weather conditions. Able to work in adverse weather conditions. Must be available to work a flexible schedule (e.g. overtime weekends holidays and 12 hour rotating shifts). Must complete drug test physical exam and background check prior to starting employment. Must have the ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential valid state driver license and proof of insurance required. Participation in ongoing random drug screening program is required.
