OVERVIEW
Cache County Corporation is seeking a Firefighter/EMT to join our Fire District. This is a 48/96 position. The Firefighter I/EMT is responsible for performing a range of basic emergency medical and firefighting duties. This role includes patient care at the EMT level structural and wildland fire suppression rescue operations and daily station tasks. Firefighter I personnel operate under direct supervision and are expected to demonstrate competency in foundational emergency services operations. This position promotes readiness professionalism and teamwork in all assigned duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Emergency Medical Services
- Responds to EMS calls and provides patient care within EMT scope of practice.
- Performs CPR bleeding control splinting bandaging and basic airway management.
- Assists with packaging and transporting patients.
- Completes patient care reports accurately and timely.
Fire Suppression and Rescue
- Participates in fire suppression using hose lines pumps and extinguishers.
- Performs search and rescue salvage and overhaul operations.
- Operates ladders SCBAs and power tools under supervision.
- Assists in wildland fire operations as qualified.
Station and Equipment Maintenance
- Conducts daily checks on assigned apparatus and equipment.
- Cleans and maintains fire station living quarters gear and facilities.
- Reports equipment malfunctions and assists in repairs when trained.
Training and Readiness
- Attends drills continuing education and department training events.
- Participates in physical fitness and personal development activities.
- Follows department SOPs safety practices and chain of command.
Community Engagement
- Participates in public education and outreach efforts.
- Conducts station tours and assists with fire prevention events.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent; AND One (1) year of job-related training.
Licensing/Certifications Required:
- NREMT- or Utah EMT license
- Utah Firefighter I and II (or IFSAC equivalent)
- Utah Hazmat Operations (or IFSAC equivalent)
- Utah Wildland Firefighter I (or NWCG Wildland Firefighter II equivalent)
- Current NWCG Red Card
- ICS 100 200 and 700
- Annual and periodic recertification(s) as required
This position also requires a valid drivers license and no convictions for driving under the influence or reckless driving within the previous 5 years or no more than 2 moving violations within the previous 24 months.
