Job Title: Hematology/Oncology Physician

Job Type: Locum Tenens

Location: Beckley WV

Service Setting: Outpatient Clinic with Hospital Call Coverage

Coverage Type: Clinical Call

Coverage Period: 12/01/2025 12/01/2026 (1-year contract)

Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m.

On-Call Shift Schedule: Inpatient call every 3rd week including weekends

Call Type: In-House and 24-Hour Call (as scheduled)

Call Ratio: 1:3

Call Response Time: Within 30 minutes (expected)

COVERAGE DATES

Full-time coverage beginning December 1 2025

Minimum commitment: 3 weeks per month for duration of contract

PATIENT INFORMATION

Patient Demographics: Adult patients (ages 18 and older)

Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 15 patients per day

Admissions: As needed during inpatient call weeks

Rounding: Included during inpatient call coverage

Phone Consults: Yes during call rotation

Case Mix: Hematologic and oncologic malignancies chemotherapy management infusion therapy

FACILITY INFORMATION

EMR System: Cerner

Office Equipment Available: Standard oncology treatment and diagnostic equipment

Specialty Backup Available: Hospitalist team Surgery Radiology Palliative Care

Support Staff Available: Nurses CMAs APPs

Reason for Coverage: Ongoing need for consistent oncologic coverage

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE

Hospital Privileges Required: Yes

Temporary Privileges Available: Yes (for clean background and active licensure)

Credentialing Timeline: 4560 days

Pre-application Required: Yes (background and licensure verification prior to final offer)

Background Requirement: Must have a clean background with no disciplinary actions

REQUIRED PROCEDURES

Bone marrow biopsy

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Licenses: Active West Virginia license (or willing to license; temporary license available)

Board: Board Certified in Hematology/Oncology (Oncology Fellowship required)

DEA: Required

Certifications: BLS ACLS

Experience: Minimum 35 years in hematology/oncology practice

Other Qualifications: Clean background no significant employment gaps proficiency with Cerner EMR

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide outpatient hematology and oncology consultations and follow-ups in clinic

Manage chemotherapy and infusion therapy as appropriate

Participate in inpatient call rotation every 3rd week including weekends

Perform and interpret bone marrow biopsies

Collaborate with multidisciplinary team including APPs nurses and hospitalists

Ensure compliance with hospital policies and credentialing requirements

Maintain detailed and accurate documentation within Cerner EMR
