Duties and Role:
- Direct 3rd level fault resolution on Local Area Network (LAN) Elements to sectors sites and the Service Area cells;
- Day-to-day operation of local and remote network sites routing switching and wireless infrastructure including some tasks that require installation and troubleshoot of physical layer;
- Advises on fault diagnosis throughout North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) sites utilizing a number of management platforms (e.g. HP Network Automation InterMapper Splunk);
- Ensure that on LAN elements remote routine maintenance throughout NATO sites is performed;
- Coordinate with sites to implement LAN elements centralization standardization and best practices
- Liaise and collaborate internally throughout the NCI Agency Service Line infrastructures and to external organizations for fault rectification activities;
- Being responsible for the maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures within the LAN Cell;
- Performing operation and maintenance activities for current NATO operations (e.g. KFOR OAE and RS);
- Operate provided management toolsets and capabilities;
- Ensure a common understanding of the available toolsets and method of utilization within the centralized and distributed user base;
- Investigating and proposing long term solutions to encountered equipment and configuration problems;
- Create and maintain network diagrams using various tools and applications such as Microsoft Visio;
- Be accountable for the hardware and software part of network equipment like switches routers servers network analysis devices (e.g. Fluke);
- When required coordinates on-site surveys validations and system acceptance testing into the Local Area Network and Wider CIS infrastructure.
RequirementsSkill Knowledge & Experience:
- The candidate must have a currently active NATO COSMIC TOP SECRET security clearance
- University degree in a field related to the function of the post;
- Or exceptionally the lack of a university/college degree may be compensated by the demonstration of a candidates particular abilities or at least 10 years extensive and progressive expertise in the duties related to the function of the post;
- Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements;
- Knowledge of NATO responsibilities structure and organization including Allied Command Operations (ACO) and Allied Command Transformation (ACT);
- 3 years experience in all aspects of maintenance repair and operation of large complex multi-vendor IP communications networks and related equipment;
- Experience with Windows Server 2012 and linux operating systems;
- Experience with STP (Spanning Tree Protocol) VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) FHRP (First Hop Redundancy Protocol) port-security TACACS (Terminal Access Controller Access-Control System) SNMP (Simple Network Management protocol) ACL (Access Control Lists) QoS (Quality of Service) IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol) PIM (Protocol-Independent Multicast) VRF (Virtual Route Forwarding) LACP (Link Aggregation Control Protocol) LAG (Link Aggregation Group) IPV6 (Internet Protocol version 6) network technologies and concepts;
- Understanding of Firewall Intrusion Detection System IPSec (Internet Protocol Security) VPN (Virtual Private Network) technologies and concepts;
- Knowledge of Data Centre and virtualization technologies such as VMWare Nexus devices VSS (Virtual Switching System) vPC (Virtual Port-channel) MEC (Multichassis EtherChannel) etc.;
- Knowledge of shell scripting such as bash and Powershell;
- Knowledge of the principles of command and control systems;
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g. HP Network Automation InterMapper Splunk Spectrum);
- Shall have general understanding of MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) Video Voice and Wireless technologies and concepts;
- Familiarity with any ticketing system regarding networking issues;
- Level of knowledge shall be equal or higher than: CCNP: Cisco Certified Network Professional; CCDP: Cisco Certified Design Professional;
- It will be considered as asset if you hold the following certifications: Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation or Higher; VMWare certification; A Certification; Any other IT industry network certifications
