Responsible for optimizing the overall cost of materials developing the supply base and supply chain strategies and negotiating pricing terms and agreements for materials that are strategic or specific to the Business Unit. This role includes supervisory responsibility for Purchasing staff within the workcell.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Analyze and forecast component purchase prices to accurately reflect inventory value in the Standard Costing process.

• Support the hiring manager in recruitment and onboarding activities.

• Ensure Purchasing staff within the workcell receive appropriate training tools and resources. Develop and deliver workcell-specific training.

• Optimize overall material costs.

• Support and contribute to Jabils Supply Chain Management (SCM) initiatives and strategies.

• Enhance sourcing options by collaborating with internal teams and customers to include preferred or strategic suppliers on the Approved Manufacturers List (AML).

• Provide input to determine competitive quoted costs that maximize Materials Price Variance (MPV).

• Continuously improve MPV by reducing material costs and minimizing unfavorable PPV/MPV.

• Collaborate with the Business Unit Manager (BUM) to obtain customer authorization for additional expenses (e.g. material premiums freight tooling).

• Monitor and evaluate supplier performance in terms of cost delivery and quality.

• Manage Business Unit-specific and strategic materials.

• Understand supplier capabilities market trends and technologies for assigned commodities.

• Communicate Jabils expectations to suppliers. Conduct audits visits certifications and performance reviews to improve the supply base.

• Develop supply chain strategies tailored to customer needs or strategic materials. Influence customer supply chain strategies to align with Jabils.

• Work with Materials Quote Analysts to quote new and existing materials. Re-quote and negotiate regularly to leverage cost reduction opportunities.

• Select suppliers based on total cost and value (price duty freight flexibility service performance quality terms).

• Negotiate terms and conditions that protect Jabil and its customers including liability stocking arrangements and non-standard agreements.

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge Requirements

• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers clients and customers.

• Strong analytical skills: ability to define problems collect data and draw valid conclusions.

• Proficiency in using a personal computer and Windows-based software.

• Advanced PC skills including familiarity with Jabils software systems.

• Ability to write simple correspondence and understand visual aids.

• Common sense approach to following simple instructions.

• Ability to handle standardized situations with minimal variation.

• Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions short correspondence and memos.

• Basic math skills: addition subtraction multiplication division using whole numbers fractions and decimals.

• Ability to compute rates ratios percentages and interpret graphs.
