Job Summary

  • Knowledge training and/or education in Human Resources or a related field
  • Classification/compensation advisory experience including leadership experience related to classification evaluation analysis and policy and strategy development
  • Experience in a large multi-union environment with an ability to build strong collaborative relationships with union representatives and leaders within an organization
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered

Assets:

  • Completion of the Korn Ferry training program and/or working level understanding of the Korn Ferry Hay system

Conditions of Employment and Work Environment:

  • 1 permanent full-time position
  • Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week Monday - Friday. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite.
  • Salary: $126832.94 - $158541.69 (Annually)

Play a key role in shaping the future of classification and job design at the City of Edmonton!

Reporting to the Director Position Evaluation and Recruitment Services the Senior Lead Position Evaluation will be responsible for developing and managing a modern classification and job evaluation framework for the organization. You will lead a team of consultants who design develop modify and implement job evaluation systems frameworks policies and practices to ensure organizational rigor and classification equity are maintained across the system.

You are the lead expert in providing strategy advice and expertise related to all classification policy matters and will be instrumental in attracting and retaining talent by critically analyzing emerging classification complexities and collaborating with business leaders and union representatives to identify solutions and strategies.

What will you do

  • Lead the delivery of all classification job design and position management activities for the City of Edmonton ensuring organizational rigour classification equity and classification consistency are maintained across the system
  • Develop comprehensive strategies options and approaches to respond to and resolve complex inquiries and issues from leaders and union representatives related to classification and position management matters
  • Design develop and implement a new classification framework and system which incorporates Korn Ferry Hay Methodology and evaluation tools
  • Consult with business partners by sharing rationale expertise processes and policy to build corporate understanding of classification and position management objectives
  • Establish and maintain internal and external networks to facilitate information exchange benchmark data and share best practices
  • Oversee and conduct jurisdiction determinations for all positions at the City aligning decisions with labour board guidance and jurisprudence
