AECOM is seeking a motivated and qualified Mechanical Engineer to support the design and installation of heavy mechanical equipment for hydroelectric power plants. The work will cover both new developments and refurbishment projects (e.g. gates debris racks winches overhead cranes etc.).
You will join a team of engineers technicians and project managers and collaboratively deliver projects across Canada and occasionally internationally. You will also integrate into multidisciplinary teams including other engineering disciplines architects and external consultants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare deliverables such as presentation materials design criteria calculations studies drawings technical specifications equipment selections and cost estimates.
- Conduct field surveys to incorporate existing conditions into construction documents.
- Provide technical followup during construction phase: review shop drawings respond to RFIs perform inspections and manage client requests.
- Work effectively within a project team with strong communication and clientinterface skills.
- Coordinate work with other disciplines involved in the project.
- Ensure compliance with the companys health & safety policies and quality management systems.
- Perform tasks within deadlines and budgets with autonomy.
Qualifications :
Required:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering.
- A minimum of 4 years experience designing heavy mechanical equipment for hydroelectric facilities.
- Member in good standing of a Provincial Order of Engineers (or eligible for immediate registration).
- Excellent written and oral English.
Preferred:
- Over 6 years experience in heavy mechanical equipment design for hydroelectric facilities.
- Some knowledge of the French language.
- Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary internal teams.
