Resident Network Engineer (Remote)
Pay: Commensurate with experience
Remote - Travel May Be Required
Full-Time Long-Term Assignment

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Resident Network Engineer to provide dedicated technical support for a customers Network Operations Center or lab environment. This role focuses on network verification fault management and integration of new elements within a Ribbon-based network. The engineer will serve as a trusted technical advisor and work collaboratively with customer personnel to ensure operational stability and optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform network verification and configuration testing on Ribbon SONOS PSX / SBC 5K & 7K systems (experience required).
  • Support trunk provisioning software installation and ongoing fault management of the Ribbon network.
  • Provide remote technical support and assist with network turn-up and validation activities.
  • Deliver informal customer training and support customer self-sufficiency transition plans.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues and lead problem resolution efforts.
  • Recreate and isolate customer issues within the lab to drive root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering sales and customer operations teams.
  • Produce clear and accurate documentation including incident status reports and technical procedures.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers through proactive communication and problem-solving.

Qualifications

  • Required:
    • 2 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting Ribbon SBC Core PSX and RAMP products.
    • Expertise in SIP H.323 Telephony Routing Translations and security protocols.
    • In-depth knowledge of signaling protocol standards and their practical applications.
    • Proficiency with Linux Perl scripting and VoIP telephony architecture.
    • Familiarity with test and analysis tools such as Wireshark IP softphones and SIP test tools.
    • Strong troubleshooting and fault isolation skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with Diameter routing and SS7 STP systems.
    • Prior exposure to carrier-grade or large enterprise network environments.
  • Education & Experience:
    • BS/MS in Telecommunications Computer Science Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
    • Minimum 8 years of experience in a professional technical support or engineering environment.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
    • Strong organizational documentation and time management skills.
    • Ability to travel internationally on short notice.
    • Valid drivers license.
