Salary: 51979 to 74256 THB per month

This role is open for applications from employees who are currently located and have the right to work in Thailand. The successful candidate will remain in their current location/entity

You must have the legal right to work in Thailand at the time of application as there is no relocation or sponsorship support.

British Council supports working in new ways such as hybrid working subject to full approval by line management and conditional upon our ability to provide the appropriate level of service. This may not be appropriate for all roles but can be explored at interview.

Role purpose

  • This role supports the financial accounting activities for the British Council and works closely with the Managed Service Provider (MSP) to ensure the financial accounts are completed correctly and in a timely manner and numbers are reported accurately.
  • The role delivers retained financial processes supporting P2P O2C R2R and CLM ensuring consistent accurate and robust financial accounting in line with accounting practices and corporate policies.
  • The role also contributes to statutory reporting tax review/filing cashflow reporting audit processes and will provide finance support to sanctioned/embargoed countries.
  • The postholder will support communication across operational areas and with the MSP and will work closely with Group Controllership to support on-going continuous improvement and effective management of the MSP.

Main Responsibilities and not limited to

Taxes

  • Ensure all tax declaration & payments (CIT VAT WHT) are filed correctly and timely and ensure that the organization meets its tax obligations & objectives complying with all relevant laws and regulations including filing of Tax return on the Revenue Department portal for all 4 subsidiaries as well as maintain good record of each tax reconciliation
  • Lead and coordinate tax audits anticipate and pre-empt any potential issues. Support and follow up on cases under litigation. Point of contact for local tax office and respond to their request
  • Lead and coordinate local transfer pricing documentation preparation and transfer pricing form filing including ICO disclosure form if needed
  • Provide level 1 guidance and advise on financial and tax clauses tax scheme for contracts or projects

Statutory report and Audit

  • Lead and coordinate statutory audit with external auditors to ensure compliance with Thai accounting standards and corporate accounting policy including preparing the draft of local statutory accounts submission of audited accounts to online Ministry of Commerce platform
  • Coordinate internal audit National Audit Office (NAO) and other audit (if any) to ensure compliance with corporate policies

Others

  • Liaise with Bank for any host-to-host related issue i.e. payment rejection contact Citibank cheque distribution center managing cheque return
  • Bank mandatory update by liaising for wet ink signature Logistic for company credit card
  • Manage finance external storage document retention
  • Support the implementation of new or updated accounting and reporting requirements in line with professional accounting standards. Support work to centralise and move activity to MSP
  • Develop good working relationships with key internal customers colleagues and the MSP to ensure that activities comply with professional accounting standards technical accounting/tax issues and other external reporting requirements in British Council. As required represents the British Council in discussions and dealings with external suppliers/providers

Role-Specific Skills

  • Strong management reporting and analysis skills.
  • Proficient in Excel (pivot tables) and Power BI.
  • Ability to simplify complex financial data for non-finance audiences.
  • Excellent time and data management; works well under pressure.
  • Experience working in virtual cross-functional teams.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • 3 years in operational finance/management accounting and taxation.
  • Strong financial reporting skills.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency; ERP experience (transactional & reporting).
  • CPD/CPA license holder.

Desirable

  • 5 years in operational finance/management accounting.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Exposure to international work environments.

Education/Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting.
  • Degree level education. Part qualified with a recognised accounting body.

Language Requirements

Thai: Proficient in written and verbal communication

English: Proficiency in written and verbal English required (British Council systems operate in English)
