Job Summary/Purpose

Design Engineering is the design authority and owner of the design bases. The organization focuses on the design of baseline modifications and design basis control and maintenance. Design integrity is maintained through effective configuration control of design output documents (i.e. specifications calculations drawings test requirements and procedures).

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining the design basis for each site and support maintenance of the licensing basis.
  • Assist in providing cost-effective modification designs when required to improve plant system or equipment performance.
  • Provide technical support to operations maintenance engineering and other site organizations.
  • Support safe reliable operation by identifying and effectively resolving issues via the corrective action and work management processes.
  • Assist in developing engineering products in accordance with defined standards and procedures.
  • Serve on outage engineering support teams if necessary.
  • Attend training and maintain qualifications necessary to perform required group functions.
  • Act as a design authority for the site.
  • Assist team members with day-to-day tasks when/if needed.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

  • Pursuing a B.S. Degree in Civil and/or Nuclear Engineering. Other relevant science disciplines may be considered.
    • Preferred: Students that will be classified as a junior or senior in college at the time of hire.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is (based on a 4.0 scale).

Minimum knowledge skills and abilities required of the position

  • General business and accounting knowledge
  • Self-starter with strong analytical and communication skills
  • Must be proficient in MS office tools - Word Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong and positive team attitude and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to understand scope and objective of each assignment
  • Ability to assist with structural analysis and seismic analysis in accordance with nuclear codes
  • Selected candidate must meet access authorization and fitness for duty requirements of a nuclear power station.
