Description:
The Co-Op student will report to the EH&S Manager and will be working on job assignments related to their functional EH&S discipline. These increasingly challenging assignments will provide foremost an effective learning assignment and then a sound intellectual and/or financial return for the PCC organization while meeting all federal state and local compliance requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Apply principles that he/she has learned in school to hands-on situations such as process and product design and improvement from an EH&S standpoint
- Will work with the production hourly workforce to address day-to-day safety concerns
- Develop & improve material handling issues throughout the facility
- Work with outside vendors and consultants to eliminate injuries
- Investigate all facility accidents & injuries to develop corrective actions
- Help implement periodic inspections for hazardous waste PPE use etc.
- Perform weekly inspections for hazardous waste
- Identify and recommend process improvements for specified projects relating to EH&S discipline
- Participate in departmental safety meetings
- Attend training sessions and other appropriate educational opportunities
- Review and analyze PPE requirements for the various departments and process related functions
- Take ownership and responsibility for identified EH&S projects on the production floor
- Assist in development and refine EH&S and emergency response procedures for the facility
- Perform job risk analysis for various processes and tasks
- Perform new hire safety training and orientation
- Other duties as assigned
Level of Education
- Full- time student pursuing Bachelors degree or MBA
- Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher
- Knowledge of EH&S engineering practices IH sampling regulatory compliance for OSHA EPA Hazardous Waste NFPA etc.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint
- Good writing skills and interpersonal skills
- Must be ITAR compliant U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
Work Environment
- Students will spend 50% of their time in the office and 50% on the plant floor
