Join us as a trainee solicitor at the BBC and take the opportunity to kick-start your legal career in a role that will both challenge and excite you. Were committed to development of your skills and talent over the next 30 months leading to your qualification as a solicitor. Youll learn on-the-job at the same time as you will work towards your SQE exams under a day release scheme with our education provider.

We are offering five graduates the chance to work as part of the BBCs extended legal team whilst studying for both parts of the Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE). You will be a contributing member of the team from day one whilst earning a full time salary.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

Asa Trainee Solicitor Graduate Apprentice (LSP26) you will gain expereince in at least four areas such as:

  • Litigation and Information Rights
  • Programme Legal Advice
  • Employment Law
  • Regulatory and Competition Law
  • Intellectual Property Law
  • Rights and Business Affairs
  • Distribution Law
  • Technology Law
  • Commercial Law

Youll study for your SQE 1 & 2 qualification learning both on and off the job and have the opportunity to apply the skills you learn in real life. This means you will be working in the team 4 days a week and spend one day studying with our education provider BPP.

  • Legal knowledge A solid foundation in law is essential and a willingness to deepen your understanding through studying for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE).

  • Analytical thinking and problem solving Youll need to break down complex legal issues clearly and provide sound solutions often briefing senior lawyers and colleagues.

  • Resilience The apprenticeship is demanding; the ability to manage pressure balance full-time work with study and adapt to changing priorities is key.
  • Collaboration Working effectively with colleagues across diverse teams to support the BBCs business objectives.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be eligible for an apprenticeship at the BBC you must:

  • Be 18 years old or over by the time the apprenticeship begins in September 2026
  • Be legally eligible to work full-time in the UK for the entire duration of the apprenticeship
  • Not currently be enrolled in another apprenticeship programme whether with the BBC or another organisation
  • Identify as disabled under the Equality Act.

To apply for this scheme you must also:

  • Have a qualifying law degree* or a non-law degree plus the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) achieved in the last 5 years (graduated 2021 or later) at grade/award 2:1 or above by the start of the scheme in September 2026
  • Have achieved Maths and English GCSE at Grade 4/C or above or National 5 (Scotland) at C or above or an equivalent qualification
  • Have achieved A levels at grade AAB or above (or an international equivalent qualification)
  • Not have achieved any part of the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Solicitors Qualifying Exams (SQE). If you have already achieved any part of the LPC or SQE you will not be eligible for this scheme.

*A qualifying law degree is a law degree program from a qualifying institution recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) which covers English Foundational Law.
