The Department of Counseling at California State University Fullerton invites applications for a tenuretrack Assistant Professor position in Counseling with an appointment to begin Fall 2026. The Department of Counseling is a CACREP-accredited program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling that prepares graduate students to seek the Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and the Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) credentials in California. The Department also offers an Ánimo concentration which prepares counselors to provide bilingual/bicultural (Spanish/English) counseling to Latinx communities. Position
The successful candidate will be working in a premier counselor education program in Southern California that enrolls a culturally diverse student body. The successful candidate will be teaching courses that are a part of our core CACREP curriculum with the Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialty. Additionally our preferred candidate will teach in our Ánimo Latinx Health Counseling Concentration. The Ánimo Concentration is designed to address the professional curricular and training needs of mental health counselors working with Latinx and Spanish-speaking clients. Furthermore the Ánimo Concentration focuses on developing self-awareness as a bilingual and bicultural counselor knowledge of Latinx cultures and therapeutic Spanish familiarity with interventions appropriate to Latinx and Spanish-speaking clients and social justice advocacy for issues relevant to the Latinx community.
CSUF faculty are committed teacher-scholars who bring research and creative discovery to life for students in classrooms and through individually mentored projects. The candidates are also expected to conduct research that leads to peer-reviewed publications. The successful candidates will also be expected to contribute to and participate in the life and development of the department advise students serve on committees and participate in the broader university and disciplinary communities. The faculty members should maintain a firm commitment to valuing multicultural perspectives with an intersectional lens in addition to demonstrating a professional track record that reflects that commitment. Compensation
The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is $6221 to $13224 monthly (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $6800 to $6937 per month.
Salary offered is commensurate with experience and addition the California Equal Pay Act prohibits employers from paying its employees less than those of the opposite sex and/or another race or ethnicity for substantially similar work ( research grants moving expenses startup funds and a reduced teaching load may be available.
