OSE - TempsThe Health Instructor is a part time temporary position consisting of three 2-hour planning sessions and twenty 3.5-hour sessions between November 2025 and May 2026.
Expectations/Responsibilities:
Attends curriculum and planning sessions with the team.
Plans prepares implements and supports health pathway curriculum per cohort (middle and high school).
Plans prepares and implements curriculum related to social emotional learning through teambuilders and self-care sessions.
Oversees lesson plans and activities focusing on developing academic workforce and self-development areas.
Plans prepares and implements group-based student research projects.
Facilitates and oversees development of research projects for middle or high school student teams.
Facilitates and oversees ACT prep sessions.
Mentors and empowers college intern to grow professionally into a future instructor.
Maintains an organized and clean classroom environment conducive to health learning.
Fosters a fun and safe classroom environment conducive to learning.
Recognizes and works through conflicts in caring ways invites discussion on differences and arranges for a third party to assist if necessary.
Ensures lab safety guidelines are adhered to in the classroom.
Required Qualifications
Education: Undergraduate degree in a STEM-health area.
This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements institutional standards of academic and professional excellence alignment with peer institution benchmarks and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.
Work Experience:
2 years of STEM-health work experience.
Experience working with rural or urban populations.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Graduate degree in STEM-health area.
Work Experience:
5 years of STEM-health work experience.
Previous teaching experience.

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to education experience and training qualifications relative to the requirements of the position and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
