Overview:

THIS WORK MATTERS!

This position integrates trauma-informed perspectives and practices into all aspects of DCHS programming with a specific focus on workforce safety wellbeing and equity. The Trauma Informed Practices Coordinator leads a range of initiatives designed to communicate a culture of resiliency and healing; build capacity for staff and management to use trauma-sensitive strategies ensure Department policies are trauma-informed and partner with external agencies and jurisdictions to align approaches.

As the Trauma-Informed Practices Coordinator other duties will include:

  • Act as subject matter expert (SME) and/or coordinator of trauma-informed programs to align with departments WESP initiatives

  • Act as the primary driver and designated spokesperson other than the manager for highly complex interdivisional and interagency strategic programs and projects with multiple jurisdictions disciplines and community groups

  • Develop evaluate enhance provide expert advice and manage programs and projects to embed trauma-informed practices into all aspects of DCHS culture supervision communications facilities policies and processes (including critical incident response facility evaluation reviewing communications coaching supervisors managing conflict resolution and developing orientation and training)

  • Develop and offer ongoing opportunities for trauma-informed coaching for supervisors and managers

  • Research and incorporate emerging trauma-informed and industry best practices into DCHS presenting reports to Leadership for consideration

  • Help senior management with policy and organizational issues. Talk to managers and leaders about trauma-informed best practices and ways to plan and communicate.

  • Collaborate on department-wide initiatives

  • Recommend strategies policies procedures and actions to respond to employee and consumer experiences and trauma-informed programmatic adjustments

  • Provide strategic direction on key focus areas including field and home visiting safety policy acute incident recovery and increasing physical and psychological safety within DCHS facilities

  • Operationlaize a trauma-informed workspace and service delivery by informing policy procedures and communication

  • Recommend policy adjustments to align with trauma-informed practices and become an employer of choice

  • Provide input on Department-wide initiatives such as the Sustainable Business Plan Employer of Choice Employee feedback opportunities and the Department Dashboard

  • Compile and evaluate emerging and promising practices in healing and recovery Disseminate information through various media (email newsletters Commons content in-person forums)

  • Develop create draft and consult on communications to the entire department to ensure a trauma-informed approach and language

  • Respond to employee safety concerns and elevate those to DCHS Leadership and HR

  • Partner with other County Departments including Emergency Management Organizational Learning and Wellness and The Health Department to provide oversight and consultation around trauma-informed practices county-wide

  • Implement performance management framework for Trauma-Informed Practices as a guide to implement a range of evaluation strategies to describe low and high-level outcomes. This includes collection and tracking of participation in training and consultation sessions surveys of employee well-being and interviews with staff most impacted by decisions to center their experience

  • Utilize technological solutions marketing and communication materials to expand information related to TIC practices

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:

Education/Training:

  • A Bachelor Degree from an accredited College University in the field study of Psychology/Sociology Emotional Education or a related field

  • Three (3) to Six (6) years experience working in a trauma-informed environment

  • Three (3) to Six (6) years experience training and educating employees managers and directors around trauma-informed material

Hybrid Telework: This position is designated as hybrid telework meaning you will be working both remotely (from home) and in person at an onsite location. Everyday Multnomah County staff work together to serve as a safety net for our communities. During a disaster this safety net becomes even more critical. All County employees have a role in serving the public during inclement weather natural disaster or other types of community emergency response.
