As a Data Scientist at the Manager level you will help clients unlock business value through AI-driven solutions including agentic AI machine learning and statistical modelling. This role is client-facing and combines strategic thinking product mindset and technical depth. You will lead small teams to design and deliver AI solutions that align with business outcomes leveraging your understanding of data science and familiarity with modern AI technologies.

You will act as a trusted advisor guiding clients through AI adoption journeys shaping use cases and ensuring solutions are practical and scalable.

Ko Tō Rourou Your key responsibilities

• Consulting & Strategy
  • Engage with client stakeholders to identify opportunities for AI and data-driven innovation.
  • Translate business needs into actionable AI use cases and solution roadmaps.
• Solution Design & Delivery
  • Lead teams to deliver AI solutions using agile methodologies.
  • Incorporate agentic AI architectures ML models and statistical techniques into solutions.
• Product Thinking
  • Apply principles from SVPG and modern product management to design user-centric AI products.
• Collaboration & Leadership
  • Mentor junior team members and foster a culture of learning and innovation.

In line with client requirements you will need to be based in Auckland.

Ngā Pūkenga Skills and attributes for success

Ideally youll have the skills and attributes below but dont worry if you dont tick all the boxes. Were interested in your aptitude attitude and willingness to learn.

• Strong understanding of AI concepts including agentic AI ML and statistical modeling.
• Background in data science or familiarity with statistics and advanced analytics.
• Ability to navigate business and technical conversations and translate requirements.
• Experience in consulting client engagement and leading small teams.
• Exposure to agile product management frameworks (e.g. SVPG) and design thinking is a plus.
