The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 7-month contract at the Natural Sciences and Science Education.
Project Title: Enhancing the epistemic power of multimodal explanations by incorporating quantitative data collected by sensor technologies
Project Introduction: Technological advancements especially in smartphone sensor technologies enhance scientific education in lower secondary schools by making abstract concepts tangible. This research investigates how these technologies foster students conceptual and epistemic understanding through multimodal explanations. It aims to refine educational practices for integrating sensor technologies in scientific inquiry strengthening students ability to support explanations with quantitative data for better argumentation.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree specialised in education or social sciences
Qualifications or work experience in science education would be preferred
Prompt engineering skills or good skills at the use of Generative AI
Good communication organisation writing proof-reading and research skills
Proficiency in English language
Proactive and able to work independently
Be a good team player
Responsibilities:
Conduct literature reviews to support research
Work on development of lessons and materials
Work on development of customised models using large language models (e.g. ChatGPT)
Assist and work closely with the research team and partners
Collect analyse and manage data
Write/prepare research reports publications and presentation materials independently
Other research and project management tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigator (PI).
