The BNSF RailwayEnvironmental & Sustainability Departmentleads our companys environmental efforts. This team oversees environmental and hazardous materials compliance liability management and spill/emergency response. Additionally they are dedicated to stewardship of sustainable solutions and related initiatives ensuring that BNSF remains a responsible corporate citizen.

Duties:

  • Lead the Controlled Use lease review process
    • Serve as the initial environmental interface for the business and customers wanting to lease property from BNSF
  • Evaluate liabilities at leased properties
  • Lead the development of applicable guidance documents and playbooks to ensure consistency and accountability of process
  • Lead the tracking of department metrics
  • Lead technology deployment/development: EHS STAR mobility Salesforce data analysis and reporting
  • Manage environmental demolition waste disposal and asbestos abatement projects:
    • Manage and communicate with federal state and local environmental agencies and serve as the BNSF Environmental point of contact
    • Engage with Environmental Legal as required.
    • Manage consultants and contractors as assigned.
  • Oversight of small remediation projects by consultants and/or 3rd parties on BNSF property
  • Support real estate transactions
  • Complete database management and data entry as needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Environmental or applicable Science related field is required
  • 3 to 5 years of related remediation and property investigation and due diligence activities
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Project management experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word Excel Outlook and PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Tableau and/or Power BI; or ability to become proficient at extracting data and manipulating data/graphics
  • Experience with an Environmental Management Information System and/or database experience
  • Environmental remediation experience
  • Knowledge of railroad facilities operations and construction
