About the School
A high-achieving and well-respected 1118 secondary school in Hertfordshire is seeking an inspirational Art Teacher to join their thriving Visual Arts Department from January 2026. This is a full-time permanent position offering the opportunity to teach in one of the countys most successful and forward-thinking schools.
The school has approximately 1350 pupils including a Sixth Form of 320 and holds an Outstanding Ofsted rating. It is consistently ranked among the top-performing non-selective schools in the region with a Progress 8 score above 0.6 and a proud record of artistic excellence. The creative subjects are central to the schools curriculum with many students pursuing higher education in Art Design Architecture and Photography.
About the Role
The appointed teacher will teach Art & Design across KS3KS5 inspiring students to explore both traditional and contemporary forms of artistic expression. Lessons will encourage experimentation reflection and critical analysis helping pupils to develop technical skill creative confidence and cultural awareness. You will play an active role in developing students GCSE and A-Level portfolios guiding them towards success in both assessed coursework and external exhibitions.
The Art Department is a dynamic collaborative and well-resourced team with a strong ethos of innovation and inclusion. Facilities include large purpose-built studios a fully equipped Mac suite for digital art and design a ceramics and sculpture room and dedicated exhibition spaces that showcase student work throughout the year. The department frequently partners with local galleries and art foundations providing opportunities for students to display their work in professional settings.
In addition to classroom teaching you will have the chance to:
Organise and curate the schools annual art exhibition and public showcases
Support students applying to Art Foundation and Fine Art university programmes
Lead creative workshops and after-school art clubs
Collaborate with other departments on cross-curricular creative projects
Contribute to the schools growing reputation in regional and national art competitions

Experience and Qualifications
QTS/PGCE and degree in Art & Design Fine Art or a related discipline
Strong portfolio showcasing artistic skill and classroom practice
Experience teaching GCSE and A-Level desirable
Excellent communication organisation and classroom management skills
Passion for developing creativity and visual literacy in young learners
