Forward Deployed Engineer

San Francisco CA. On site. Full time.

Advantra is partnering with an early stage computational biology startup in San Francisco to hire a Forward Deployed Engineer to support customers and implement solutions based on their workflows.

You will work directly with drug discovery customers to identify issues implement fixes and build features around their requests. You will collaborate with the product team to prioritize and deliver solutions that improve customer workflows.

1. Support customer workflows and troubleshoot technical issues.
   

2. Implement fixes and enhancements based on customer feedback.
   

3. Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define features.
   

4. Build and maintain web and API products for researchers.
   

5. Take full ownership of features from design to deployment.
   

6. Learn and apply computational biology concepts to engineering tasks.
   

7. Optimize performance for batch HPC and automated model workflows.
   

8. Maintain clean and maintainable code and documentation.
   

9. Evaluate new tools and technologies to support customer needs.
   

1. 3 years software engineering experience in fast-paced environments.
   

2. Strong programming skills in at least one language used in production.
   

3. Experience building web applications or API services.
   

4. Ability to take ownership of features from concept to production.
   

5. Experience troubleshooting and optimizing complex systems.
   

6. Comfortable working with diverse technical problems including HPC or frontend work.
   

7. Strong collaboration and communication skills with customers and teams.
   

8. Willingness to learn computational biology and Bio-ML concepts.
   

9. Experience in startup or small engineering team environments.
   

10. Located in or willing to relocate to the SF Bay Area.
    

1. Understanding of foundation models such as LLMs or Diffusion.
   

2. AWS DevOps experience including EC2 S3 DynamoDB Docker.
   

3. MLOps experience with CUDA Conda TensorFlow or PyTorch.
   

4. Frontend experience using React or Vercel.
   

5. Experience scaling HPC or automated model workflows.
