About the Role

Nottingham City Council is looking for a creative and environmentally motivated individual to join our Waste and Recycling Reduction team as an Engagement and Behaviour Change Assistant. This is a new supporting role within a growing team dedicated to educating residents maintaining a clean and tidy city and increasing Nottinghams recycling rate.

Youll play a vital part in supporting our citys waste & recycling and street cleansing engagement and communication activities helping to design and deliver community and business campaigns that encourage residents and organisations to manage their waste and recycling correctly.

Youll be involved in implementing targeted campaigns creating engaging content for digital social and traditional media and building relationships with communities and partners across Nottingham. Your work will help drive behaviour change increase recycling rates and support our journey towards a cleaner greener city.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

Basic understanding of waste recycling and environmental issues and of behaviour change principles.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to assist in creating accessible engaging content for a range of audiences including using design tools such as Canva

Friendly approachable and confident when speaking with members of the public at events or during engagement campaigns

Able to record simple data (e.g. attendance at events responses to surveys) and present it clearly to supports monitoring engagement success.

Able to handle occasional challenging situations with members of the public remaining calm courteous and focused.
