Software Engineer, Embedded Linux (IP Networking)

Our Radio Products Team is seeking a hybrid Software Engineer Embedded Linux (IP Networking). You would be responsible for working on next generation self-networking hand-held radios for domestic and foreign defense forces. A typical day might start with you working in your personal office designing and implementing embedded Linux-based Layer 3 solutions for the network radio product. It could move into one of our many state-of-the-art labs with your teammates to bring up your design on physical hardware within a mobile wireless network. The essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Design implement and integrate:
  • Enterprise grade IP layer protocol components for latent link wireless networks.
  • Software for an embedded Linux target (headless applications servers).
• Generate and present strategic plans for advanced networking functionality.
• Perform feasibility studies and performance analysis of embedded IP layer networking components.
• Interface with common Linux services and protocols.
• Document and present design alternatives using standard professional practices and corporate defined engineering processes.
• Develop relationships with team members built on trust and respect.

Education and work experience requirements are:

• Bachelors degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering Computer Science or related field of study required.
• Minimum of seven years experience with layer 3 IP network design/architecture and five years of embedded Linux software development experience.
• Expertise with C and Python general knowledge of C.
• Experience with Yocto Project or other Linux based build systems preferred.
• Experience with common software and IP network optimization debugging and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Object-oriented design data link layer and device drivers as well as ARM based processors.

The qualified candidate will have expert knowledge in several of the following areas and working knowledge of many:

• Enterprise level IP Network architecture.
• Layer 3 protocol implementation and integration for embedded products.
• Network routing and security protocols.
• Linux subsystems.
• C/C and Python.
• Distributed revision control systems and common embedded Linux development tools (i.e. compilers linkers and debuggers).

TrellisWare Technologies pays competitively according to the market in an individuals geographic location in addition to their qualifications and experience. The posted range is for individuals located in the San Diego CA area. The pay range for this position is: $00k annually.
