Job Summary

In pursuit of excellence and to align with the Universitys mission and strategic plan this position will help to steward the Universitys resources through extensive financial analysis and reporting which will enhance managements ability to make sound financial decisions ultimately affecting students. This is an ideal role for an individual seeking to develop a broad skill set in budgeting and financial reporting while also building strong business relationships with both internal and external constituents.

Duties

  • Assist the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis in managing sophisticated financial models used by University leadership for organization-wide decision making. Create financial reports charts and presentations for University committees.
  • Conduct detailed month-end variance analyses and ad-hoc analyses as needed. Investigate key drivers and causes of material budget variances and communicate those drivers through presentation building or written/verbal explanation. Review budget adjustment entries by utilizing the Universitys ERP system Oracle PeopleSoft.
  • Develop and maintain budget and financial reports with an emphasis on prospective analysis used by the Chief Financial Officer Deans and other executive leaders.
  • Manage Microsoft Access database for annual budget preparation. Provide lead functional support of the Universitys planning and budgeting system (Oracle PBCS).
  • Collaborate and partner with undergraduate and graduate schools as well as operational areas to assist in the development of the Universitys annual budget and forecasts.
  • Assist University-wide budget managers on the Universitys planning and budgeting system (Oracle PBCS) budget building and financial reporting as well as assist with ad-hoc requests.
  • Provide tailored financial information for surveys requested by various external entities such as S&P and Moodys credit agencies and analyze the results of surveys to conduct peer analysis and benchmarking.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors degree with an emphasis in a business related field (accounting finance economics business statistics etc.).
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Experience with analytical tools.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong PC skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word PowerPoint) and Google Docs/Sheets.

Preferred:

  • 2 years of budget analysis experience or 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Prior experience in Higher Education.
  • Familiarity with Pepperdine University.

This is a Regular Exempt 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $76500 - $85000

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience market conditions education/training and skill addition to base pay Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitivebenefits package.
