Te Tūranga About the role

Were looking for an Assistant Category Manager to join our Merchandise team and help shape the future of our product offering across New World PAKnSAVE and Four Square. Youll support the Category Manager to drive performance across your assigned categories working closely with suppliers and stores to deliver great outcomes for our customers.

This is a hands-on role where youll get stuck into everything from pricing and promotions to supplier negotiations and forecasting. Youll need to be comfortable juggling multiple priorities and keeping pace in a dynamic fast-moving environment. Its a great opportunity to grow your commercial and strategic skills in a fast-paced collaborative environment - and a solid stepping stone toward a future Category Manager role.

- Chilled (Dairy) (Fixed Term role)

- Baby & Health & Nutrition (Permanent role)

- Liquor & Beverages (Beer Cider & Tabacco) (Permanent role)

As an Assistant Category Manager youll be:

Supporting the planning and execution of category strategies that align with our wider business goals

Managing product pricing and promotional admin across your portfolio

Reviewing performance and identifying opportunities to optimise promotions and pricing

Building strong relationships with suppliers stores and internal teams

Helping ensure our categories are well-positioned to meet customer needs and deliver commercial results

Youre commercially savvy curious and ready to roll up your sleeves. Youve got a good grasp of category management fundamentals and a hunger to learn more - whether its diving into data collaborating with suppliers or finding smarter ways to deliver value to our customers.

Youll bring:

Experience in ranging sourcing pricing and promotion OR similar

Strong analytical skills and the ability to spot trends and opportunities

Confidence in negotiating and managing supplier relationships

Intermediate Excel skills (think XLOOKUPs pivot tables and analysis)

Adaptable eager to learn and self-motivated

Resilience and adaptability in a fast-moving environment

A collaborative working style great communication skills and a strong work ethic
