Manufacturing Engineer

Derby

37 Hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer External Supply Chain (ESC) to join the Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) Organisation based in Derby.

As part of our drive to support an expanding MRO facility network and make the business more sustainable we are expanding our repair team. This role will be an integral part of delivering greater repair capability & capacity to Rolls-Royce and realising cost improvement opportunities by increasing the amount of repaired parts in our products.

The MRO business is global and we have repair vendors across the world. You will have the opportunity to work with Rolls-Royces broad portfolio of MRO bases across the globe to deliver new repair capacity capability continuous improvement and operational support.

What you will be doing:

In this role you will be expected to assume a broad range of responsibilities including:

  • Own the technical/Engineering relationship for a specific repair supplier(s)
  • Manage the supplier relationship and work with your supplier(s) to implement repair capability and drive continuous improvement
  • Provide technical guidance to ensure quality of repair industrialisation including guidance through the First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) Process
  • Be a champion for zero defects and process improvement
  • Represent the manufacturing engineering function for sourcing decisions
  • Perform root cause analysis and problem solving where necessary

Key experience/qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in an Engineering or equivalent discipline
  • Strong problem-solving background
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to use standard digital tools: MS Word Excel PowerPoint Visio PowerBI.
  • An ability to communicate well within diverse teams and across different levels of seniority within a business both within and external to the business and adapt communication style appropriately.
  • Ability to plan and lead projects
  • Basic knowledge of engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the FAIR process (AS9102) AS13100
  • Knowledge of Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA)
  • Appreciation/qualification in measurement systems analysis
  • Data cleaning manipulation and analysis and/or programming experience
  • Part 145 appreciation

International and national travel will be required as part of this role.
