Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The incumbent may perform all some or similar range of duties.
- Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved) ensuring security of donations received.
- Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs.
- Present a positive image (well-groomed/dressed) and represent TSA well while on duty.
- Work with minimal supervision.
- Must comply with all Salvation Army policies procedures and associated legislation.
- Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reports directly to the Kettle Campaign Coordinator
- Direct reports: none.
FINANCIAL AND MATERIAL MANAGEMENT:
- Collect donations and petty cash and ensure donations are always kept secure.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This is a temporary casual relief position based on no standard weekly hours of work; there are no guaranteed hours
- Must be willing and able to work shifts that may include days afternoons evenings weekend shifts and split shifts Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.
- Flexibility in scheduling is required as the hours may increase as per the Christmas Kettle Campaign operational requirements.
- Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
- Local travel may be associated with this position.
- Work environment is typically in malls/stores
- Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completed High School or equivalent
- Related experience is an asset
Skills and Capabilities:
- Excellent interpersonal skills integrity and adaptability.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Reliable transportation to kettle location.
- Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 25 lbs.).
- Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Armys health and safety policies and procedures.
- Honest courteous and punctual; represent the organization in a positive professional and engaging manner.
- Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities.
- Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donors volunteer and organizational information.Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $17.60 to $20.01 with a maximum of $24.01.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
