Job Summary

This is a hybrid position which requires 8 days per month intheoffice. You can be based in our office inHagueor London. WRI is unable to sponsor visas in the UK for this position.

This will be a 1 year contract with the possibility of renewal.

About the Program:

This position is based in WRIs Global Development Department Government and Multilateral Relations Team. The Department supports and coordinates all fundraising at WRI and is organized around 5 teams: Government and Multilateral Relations; Foundation Relations; Corporate Relations; Individual Giving; and Development Operations.

Job Highlight:

Reporting totheSenior Director Government and Multilateral Relationsyou willsupport the Government and Multilateral Relations teams Core Donor engagement and grant management work. You will work closely with the Senior Grant and Engagement Specialist. You will integrate equity into your work.

What you will do:

Lead Core Donor Engagement and Cultivation (50%):

  • Help cultivate and deepen institutional relations with WRIs Core Donors (especially the governments of the Netherlands and Sweden)
  • Organize and lead regular check-in meetings with our core donor focal points/core grant officers in these agencies
  • Organize and prepare bilateral meetings with senior donor government officials (including Ministers) in these ministries/agencies (involves the preparation of briefing notes speaking points updating DonorInfo sheetsand any other background materials)
  • Organize joint events with these donors (and others) at high-level gatherings in close collaboration with relevant Global Program/Country Office teams (e.g. at COPs UNGA Climate Weeks)
  • Support WRI Country Offices in connecting with local Core Donor counterparts (e.g. embassies donor field offices)
  • Support and advise on strategic engagement activities carried out by WRI Country Offices and Global Programs with Core Donors
  • Prepare a short Annual Overview of WRIs (country-level) Engagements with the Core Donors and other strategic partners ahead of the annualMultipartnerMeeting
  • Support WRIs participation in senior level donor meetings
  • Monitor key funding policy political developments in Core Donor countries and help update and maintain Core Donor information and contacts in Salesforce and on the WRI intranet (e.g. donorinfo sheetsand other materials)

Support Other Donor Engagement Work (20%):

  • Keep the teams overall Engagement Tracker and master contact list up to date
  • Act as the main focal point for donor engagement within the team. Represent the Government/Multilateral Relations team in the WRI Europe External Relations group

Support Core Donor Grant Management and Renewal (30%):

  • Act as the focal point in our team for Core Grant annual reporting obligations
  • Monitor any shifts in such obligations in close coordination with the Senior Grant and Engagement Specialist
  • Regularly liaise with the teams preparing key donor reports including with the Managing for Results team and with the Global Finance team to ensure timely and effective delivery of compulsory annual reports
  • Lead the drafting of the annual Core Donor Justification Report in collaboration with Global Finance team
  • Represent the team in the working group overseeing the Mid Term External Review of WRI
  • Together with the Senior Director contribute to the renewal of Core Donor grants at the same level of funding if possible (USD 75M; as of FY27)
  • Help collate the requested materials organize donor field visits and support any other steps that are needed in the renewal processes.

What you will need:

  • Education:You havea completedbachelors degree in international development Business Administration Research International Relations or a related topic
  • Experience:You have proven experience in donor cultivation and management and are comfortable leading and coordinating strategic engagement activities with high-value donors
  • You are familiar with WRIs programmatic portfolio of work as well as with ODA-related requirements and have proven experience in ensuring compliance with donor reporting and other contractual obligations
  • Experience working in a multicultural geographically distributed team (working in multiple time zones)
  • You have experience in managing projects
  • Familiarity with climate and environmental issues would be a plus
  • Prior experience working in an international NGO multilateral climate/environment fund or bilateral ODA provider as a partnership or grant officer would be a plus
  • Languages: You are proficient in written and spoken English
  • Requirements:Existing work authorization is required in the UK for people wishing to be based there.

Potential Salary:

57000 - 71.000 if based in the Netherlands
45000 - 56000 if based in the UK

Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
