The Intro Part

Hello! My name is Bethanne and Im the Area Manager for Thrive a group of play-based learning preschools located in the greater Denver Colorado area. Were looking for a motivated and hands-on facilities maintenance manager to join our team! This position is independent and does not include supervisory or leadership responsibilities.

The How Much Will I Make & How Many Hours Will I Work Part (aka the First Thing You Are Probably Reading Part)

We are looking to hire a maintenance manager for an hourly position paying between $30 and $32 per hour. This is a full time position with 40 hours per week of work and will involve traveling between our schools which are located in Denver Englewood Golden Littleton and Reunion. Due to the nature of the work you may be required on occasions to complete work on nights and/or weekends for work that cannot be completed while the schools are occupied and you will be allowed and expected to balance your schedule accordingly.

Just to make sure were on the same page lets start with the basics:

  • 3-4 years of general building maintenance experience
  • Possess a working knowledge of best practices processes materials and tools of the maintenance trades.
  • Keen eye for detail and the ability to identify probable issues before they arise
  • Excellent time and project management skills with intentional and reflective professional practices
  • Strong organizational and communication skills including solid written and spoken English (bilingual English/Spanish a plus)
  • Comfortable working independently as the sole maintenance person for an organization
  • Own your own set of standard maintenance tools for jobs including light plumbing and electrical HVAC painting grounds-keeping etc.
  • Must have a valid CO drivers license and a working truck or van for commuting to from and between schools with mid-sized equipment and materials

Physical Requirements:

  • Moderate to heavy physical effort will be required when performing some maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 100 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders balance and stoop kneel crouch or crawl

The Responsibilities Part

As the maintenance manager your responsibilities will include a variety of tasks required to provide students faculty and staff with safe attractive clean and efficient facilities. These will include managing the repair and maintenance of school systems including interior and exterior building upkeep and repair grounds-keeping and the construction or assembly of playground equipment and toys for the schools. You will also be required to keep and maintain records in our CMMS for the maintenance for each school in order to document when repairs have occurred and what their costs are over time.

The list of responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Perform routine building maintenance such as repairing maintaining and/or replacing doors door hardware window coverings plumbing pipes HVAC systems flooring ceiling tile furniture fire alarms light fixtures and emergency lights/ bulbs/ballasts switches outlets signage lavatories toilets soap & towel dispensers etc. Adherence to child care state health and safety standards in all areas is required at all times and schools are subject to state inspection multiple times per year.
  • Perform clean articulate painting (and patching where necessary) of walls doors and other surfaces both interior and exterior.
  • Perform grounds maintenance including mowing and trimming grass maintaining and installing plant material maintaining irrigation systems tree pruning nurturing and monitoring the health of all grass trees and plant material. Maintaining building exteriors and grounds maintaining fencing cleaning drains gutters leaf removal spreading mulch removing blowing debris and trash pickup.
  • Perform general industrial maintenance including installation of appropriate equipment and devices to ensure proper operation some being specific to the childcare environment. Maintenance can include service and/or repair work on plumbing carpentry HVAC motors pumps electrical systems pneumatic tube systems lighting flooring window coverings walls and other systems.
  • Develop detailed plans for solutions to larger-scale maintenance requests and long-term projects present them to key stakeholders and implement them cost- and time-efficiently.
  • Demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem solving skills a clear attention to detail decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate actions with minimal oversight.
  • Contract with and oversee any vendors needed to complete work requiring larger-scale equipment (e.g. snow plowing) or requiring speciality knowledge of systems beyond your skill set or requiring a team (e.g. larger-scale roofing).
