About the Role

This is a three-month high-impact engineering leadership secondment within FanDuels Pricing organization. Reporting to the Senior Director of Software Engineering for Pricing and as a member of the Technology Leadership Team you will lead six engineering teams in Australia responsible for our Big 7 sports trading platforms.

In this role you will drive platform stability oversee critical migrations and embed engineering excellence practices across our pricing infrastructure directly enhancing the reliability and performance of our sportsbook. This secondment presents a unique opportunity to make a significant technical impact while collaborating with distributed engineering product and trading teams across Australia and the United States.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead 6 engineering teams (60 engineers) across Australia driving technical excellence and delivery for Big 7 sports trading platforms (NFL/CFB NBA/WNBA MLB NHL/CBB).
  • Execute on 2026 strategic priorities with focus on platform stability quality observability and extensibility across 4 core technical platforms.
  • Drive pricing latency improvements and lead critical platform migrations to enhance reliability and performance.
  • Partner closely with US-based engineering leaders product leadership quants and trading teams to ensure alignment on technical direction and business objectives.
  • Foster cross-location collaboration building strong relationships between Australian and US engineering teams.
  • Establish and strengthen a culture of collaboration innovation and sports-specific domain expertise within engineering teams.
  • Lead talent acquisition strategy including hiring plans career development initiatives and retention programs to build and maintain high-performing teams.
  • Champion engineering best practices around system observability resilience and scalability for high-volume trading platforms.
  • Collaborate with product trading and commercial stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with FanDuel Group goals and trading outcomes.
  • Report on engineering performance platform health and strategic initiative progress at executive level.

About You

  • Proven engineering leader with track record of managing multiple teams (50 engineers) and driving technical strategy in complex distributed environments.
  • Strong platform engineering mindset with experience in high-volume low-latency transactional systems (sports betting trading platforms fintech gaming or exchanges).
  • Experience leading platform stability initiatives migrations and performance optimization in production environments.
  • Deep understanding of observability monitoring and reliability engineering practices for mission-critical systems.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with tactical execution particularly within a fixed-term engagement.
  • Experience working closely with product data and commercial stakeholders to drive business outcomes through technology.
  • Track record of building engineering culture developing talent and executing hiring strategies in competitive markets.
  • Deep domain expertise in sports betting trading or risk platforms is highly desirable ideally with direct experience in sportsbook operations or risk/trading technology.
  • Thrives in fast-paced high-change environments with ability to bring clarity and direction during periods of transformation.
