About the Role
We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with strong experience in Apache Kafka. You will design build and maintain resilient event-driven systems automate processes and manage cloud infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and manage Apache Kafka: configure topics manage partitions monitor metrics troubleshoot issues.
- Work with other messaging platforms such as NATS or MQ as needed.
- Build automation scripts and integrations using Python Go Java or Bash.
- Manage Linux/Unix systems and cloud infrastructure (AWS GCP Azure) with IaC tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Implement observability (Prometheus Grafana Splunk Datadog) and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
- Apply security best practices and compliance standards (SOC 2 GDPR).
Qualifications:
- 48 years of hands-on experience in software development SRE or systems administration.
- Strong knowledge of Kafka architecture including brokers topics partitions and replicas.
- Experience with Kafka security including SSL SASL and ACLs.
- Proficiency in configuring deploying and managing Kafka clusters in cloud and on-premises environments.
- Experience with Kafka stream processing using tools like Kafka Streams KSQL or Apache Flink.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems data streaming and messaging patterns.
- Proficiency in Java Scala or Python for Kafka-related development tasks.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines monitoring and logging.
- Experience with tools like Zookeeper Schema Registry and Kafka Connect.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a distributed environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be based in Ireland or have a valid work permit for Dublin.
