The Automatic Train Control (ATC) Support Engineer

Location: JFK Airport.

will provide expert-level technical support analysis and coordination for the maintenance troubleshooting and upgrade of Automatic Train Control systems at JFK Airport. This role involves collaboration with client and contractor teams to ensure reliable performance of signaling wayside central and communication subsystems while maintaining compliance with all safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
    • Provide expert technical advice on ATC testing procedures test requirements and lead investigations to determine the root causes of equipment and subsystem failures.
    • Support on-site and remote troubleshooting of ATC signaling and communications systems.
  • System Performance & Maintenance:
    • Analyze and evaluate system performance levels identifying potential areas of improvement.
    • Recommend and implement preventive and corrective maintenance strategies to ensure system reliability and availability.
  • Implementation & Upgrades:
    • Collaborate with client and contractors to plan and implement ATC hardware and software changes related to Wayside Central Cybersecurity and Signaling Systems.
    • Support and participate in ATC system upgrade projects including testing commissioning and integration activities.
  • Operational Continuity:
    • Develop and execute contingency plans for unplanned events or configuration changes to minimize impact on airport train operations and revenue service.
    • Ensure readiness to respond and coordinate during emergency or fault incidents.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Adhere strictly to all Alstom safety rules procedures and audit requirements.
    • Ensure contractors maintain compliance with safety standards required skills and valid certifications for scheduled works.
    • Promote a culture of safety and reliability across all field activities.
  • Asset Management:
    • Oversee inspections maintenance and repair activities related to ATC tracks signaling and communication infrastructure.
    • Ensure all maintenance records and performance logs are updated accurately.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Electronics or Railway Engineering (or related field).
  • Minimum 5 10 years of experience in railway signaling or Automatic Train Control systems.
  • Proven expertise in troubleshooting testing and maintenance of ATC subsystems (Wayside Central and Vehicle).
  • Familiarity with CBTC ATP/ATO/ATS systems or similar automatic train operation technologies.
  • Knowledge of Cybersecurity practices related to railway signaling and control systems.
  • Excellent analytical communication and coordination skills.
  • Prior experience working on airport transit or people mover systems is an advantage.
  • Strong commitment to safety quality and continuous improvement.

Additional Information:

  • Must be available for on-site support and respond to emergency calls as needed.
  • Flexibility to work in shift or weekend schedules based on operational requirements.

Must comply with all airport security and access control regulations.
