Requirements: - Completion of a recognized two-year interpreter training program.
- Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)
- Certification of Interpretation and/or Certificate of Transliteration (CI/CT) or National Interpreter Certification (NIC).
- Experience in educational interpreting.

- Ensure students understand and repeat interpretations when necessary.
- Interpret auditory responses and facilitate group interactions including soundtracks from films and tapes.
- Voice interpret signed responses for teachers and hearing students as needed.
- Assist teachers in understanding student verbal responses and communicate student issues and progress to them.
- Interpret school events like assemblies field trips and special events for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
- Provide professional support to other interpreters in the program and offer backup interpretation when available.
- Prepare for daily classroom interpreting by reviewing materials and specialized vocabulary.
- Choose appropriate manual signs (ASL PSE or SEE) for communication with specific individuals or groups.
- Facilitate sign comprehension by following attire guidelines and recommending suitable seating arrangements.
- Interpret informal conversations between Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and staff during unstructured times.
- Collaborate with the districts Interpreter Services team and perform related duties as required.
- Act as a resource for school personnel needing help in communicating with Deaf/Hard of Hearing individuals.
- Provide interpretation for students parents and teachers during meetings conferences or testing in other classes.
- Other duties as assigned by Management
Required Skills:
Completion of a recognized two-year interpreter training program. Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Certification of Interpretation and/or Certificate of Transliteration (CI/CT) or National Interpreter Certification (NIC). Experience in educational interpreting.
