Job Summary

This is a remote position.

The Remote Data Entry Specialist will play a key role in supporting Hobies backoffice and digital operations by accurately entering updating and maintaining critical data related to sales inventory order fulfillment vendor information and customer records. As Hobie designs and distributes premium watercraft paddleboards kayaks and accessories across many markets worldwide this role ensures the integrity of data that drives both manufacturing logistics and customer-facing systems.



Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately input data into company systems: inventory databases e-commerce orders B2B distributor orders customer profiles shipping/receiving logs and vendor purchase orders.

  • Review source documents (invoices shipment manifests order logs returns) for completeness and accuracy before data entry; identify inconsistencies and work with relevant teams for resolution.

  • Reconcile data between systems (for example: comparing physical inventory counts vs. system records orders vs. shipped status) and generate discrepancy reports for management.

  • Maintain spreadsheets and databases: perform regular updates cleanup of outdated entries removal of duplicates and ensure consistency of naming conventions and coding standards.

  • Generate routine and ad-hoc reports summarizing key metrics e.g. inventory turnover order processing lag vendor lead-time return rates and present insights to operations or sales teams.

  • Collaborate remotely with cross-functional teams: sales logistics warehouse manufacturing and vendor relations to gather missing data verify inputs and ensure real-time data accuracy.

  • Uphold data confidentiality and security standards: manage sensitive information about customers and vendors ensure compliance with policies for remote work backups and access controls.

  • Identify process improvement opportunities: propose automation macros templates or system enhancements to increase data-entry efficiency reduce errors and support scaling of operations.



Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or certificate in business administration data management or related field preferred.

  • Proven experience in data entry clerical or administrative rolespreferably in a manufacturing retail e-commerce or distribution environment.

  • Strong typing skills (e.g. 50 wpm) with excellent accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (or Google Sheets) comfortable working with large datasets; familiarity with ERP or inventory systems is a plus.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; ability to prioritize tasks work independently in a remote environment and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across remote teams.

  • Reliable remote work setup with strong internet connection ability to maintain focus in a home-office environment.

  • Interest in outdoor recreation water-sports or familiarity with the Hobie brand is a plus helpful to understand the product context.
