Job Summary

The Department of Pediatrics Division of Genetic Medicine at University of Washington is recruiting a full-time Associate Medical Director of Inpatient Services for Clinical Genetics at the level of Associate or Full Professor without tenure by reason of funding (WOT) on the Clinician-Scholar pathway. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience qualifications and academic rank. Anticipated start date is Winter 2025/2026.

As the second largest Department in the UW School of Medicine Pediatrics has twenty-one clinical divisions with approximately 1400 academic appointments including approximately 650 paid faculty members 134 residents 70 ACGME fellows 230 staff employees and over 600 volunteer/affiliate faculty and continues to grow each year. The Department of Pediatrics is a close affiliate of Seattle Childrens Hospital (SCH) and Seattle Childrens Research Institute (SCRI). Faculty members appointed in the Department are located at various institutions (including Seattle Childrens UW Medicine and FHCRC) and are part of the Childrens University Medical Group (CUMG) clinical practice plan.

Associate and Full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June) meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching research and service.

Responsibilities will include coordinating the administrative and clinical activities of the Inpatient Consultation Service within the Division of Genetic Medicine. The role also involves supervising hospital personnel whose primary responsibilities are related to this serviceincluding genetic counselorsin partnership with the leadership of the Division of Genetic Associate Medical Director for Inpatient Services will additionally be responsible for expanding the inpatient consultation service and establishing patient care protocols in collaboration with both medical and non-medical services.

Responsibilities also include patient care (inpatient consultations outpatient genetics clinics regional clinics throughout Washington telemedicine and multidisciplinary clinics) and teaching of medical students and residents. Opportunities will be available for clinical research and collaboration with physician/scientists in the Seattle Childrens Research Institute and basic scientists in the Departments of Pediatrics Medicine and of Genome Sciences at the University of Washington.

The base salary range for this position will be: Associate Professors $17091 - $25636 per month ($205092 - $307632 annually) Full Professors $19837 - $28924 per month ($238044 - $347088 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Childrens University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by Childrens University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Childrens University Medical Group practice plan.



Applicants must:

Have an MD or DO or MD/DO combined (or foreign equivalent)

Have completed Categorical Genetics residency or Combined Pediatric Genetics residency

Be board certified in Clinical Genetics and Genomics

Be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington

To be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
