Job Summary

About the Role:
The Vice President Bioinformatics and Software Engineering will provide strategic and technical leadership for computational biology software development and data infrastructure in support of whole genome sequencing (WGS) multi-omics analysis and clinical diagnostics. This executive role requires deep expertise in de novo algorithm development data modeling and scalable bioinformatics methods for genomic discovery and precision medicine. The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team of bioinformaticians and engineers advancing both production-ready clinical pipelines and cutting-edge computational research to enable next-generation diagnostics.

Responsibilities:

Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for bioinformatics and software engineering with emphasis on de novo method development and novel algorithm design.
Lead the design validation and deployment of NGS pipelines for WGS RNA-seq and multi-omics applications ensuring compliance with CLIA CAP and FDA standards.
Drive innovation in data modeling statistical methods and computational frameworks to address large-scale genomic and structural variation analysis.
Oversee end-to-end software engineering efforts including cloud infrastructure APIs automation tools and scalable production systems.
Establish and enforce engineering best practices in version control testing reproducibility and audit-ready documentation.
Recruit mentor and manage a high-performing team spanning bioinformatics machine learning software engineering and data science.
Collaborate with R&D Clinical Regulatory and Product teams to integrate novel computational methods into diagnostic product development.
Shape the data strategy to support AI/ML applications real-world evidence generation and advanced data integration across omics modalities.
Ensure compliance with data security privacy and regulatory frameworks across all systems and workflows.
Foster partnerships with academic industry and open-source communities to accelerate innovation in bioinformatics methods and software solutions.

Qualifications:

PhD or MS in Bioinformatics Computational Biology Computer Science or a related discipline.
At least 10 years of experience in bioinformatics and software engineering with proven expertise in algorithm development for NGS and large-scale genomics.
Demonstrated success in developing de novo methods for genome assembly structural variant detection or advanced computational modeling.
Strong track record building cloud-based platforms and production-grade pipelines for regulated diagnostics.
Leadership experience managing cross-functional teams across bioinformatics engineering and clinical domains.
Deep understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks including CLIA CAP and FDA submissions.
Hands-on expertise with cloud infrastructure distributed computing and data-intensive systems preferably AWS.
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence technical scientific and executive stakeholders.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience with multi-omics integration statistical modeling and advanced algorithmic methods in computational biology.
Background in genome assembly haplotype phasing structural variant calling or other de novo discovery pipelines.
Familiarity with LIMS clinical reporting systems and laboratory automation workflows.
Experience leading FDA submissions and developing QMS-aligned software systems for diagnostics.
Knowledge of AI/ML applications in bioinformatics including predictive modeling and real-world data analysis.
Proven ability to translate computational innovations into clinically validated products.
