Position Title:Educational Support Personnel (ESP) / Paraprofessional
Reports To:Building Principal and/or Special Education Administrator
Position Summary
The Gorman Fort Banks Elementary Schoolis seeking a dedicated and flexibleEducational Support Personnel (ESP)to provide instructional behavioral and organizational support to students and staff. The ESP works closely with classroom teachers and other school staff to foster a safe positive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Support students in general education and/or special education settings including small-group or one-on-one instruction as directed by certified staff.
Assist with the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans under the guidance of teachers and specialists.
Reinforce lessons and learning activities introduced by the teacher.
Supervise students in classrooms hallways cafeterias recess arrival/dismissal and other assigned areas to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
Support students with developing academic social-emotional and executive functioning skills.
Assist with data collection and documentation of student progress as requested.
Collaborate effectively with teachers administrators and other support staff.
Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters.
Participate in professional development sessions staff meetings and training as required.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal or designee.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates degreeORa passing score on the ParaPro Assessment (as defined by MA Department of Elementary & Secondary Education).
Experience working with children in an educational or youth-centered setting preferred.
Ability to establish positive relationships with students and colleagues.
Strong communication collaboration and problem-solving skills.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive respectful and supportive learning environment.
Terms of Employment
Work Year:180 school days plus 2 professional development days.
Schedule:Follows the Winthrop Public School calendar.
Compensation:In accordance with the Winthrop Public Schools contract for paraprofessionals/ESPs.
