Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Horse Trainer to prepare and manage horses for Point-to-Point (P2P) racing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in racehorse training with a particular understanding of the unique demands of amateur steeplechasing. The role requires a hands-on individual with excellent horsemanship fitness conditioning skills and a passion for developing horses to compete at grassroots racing level.

Key Responsibilities

Train and condition horses for Point-to-Point races to peak fitness and performance.
Develop tailored training programmes based on individual horse needs.
Ride work school over fences and hack out when required.
Manage daily care routines feeding grooming and overall welfare.
Monitor health and liaise with vets farriers and physiotherapists as necessary.
Maintain training logs and performance records.
Prepare horses for race days and travel to P2P meetings.
Supervise and mentor yard staff grooms and riders where applicable.
Ensure compliance with health & safety and animal welfare standards.
Communicate regularly with owners and keep them informed of progress.

Essential Skills & Experience

Proven experience working with racehorses ideally in a P2P or National Hunt setting.
Strong riding ability particularly schooling over fences.
Sound understanding of equine fitness nutrition and behaviour.
Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
Good communication and record-keeping skills.
Physically fit and capable of handling large athletic horses.
