VDOT is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer (Sr NE) to implement and provide support to the agencys IT Network infrastructure. The Sr NE performs day-to-day activities related to the support and documentation of VDOT Network infrastructure.

Job Overview:

VDOT is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer (Sr NE) to implement and provide support to the agencys IT Network infrastructure. The Sr NE performs day-to-day activities related to the support documentation research analysis and implementation of VDOT Network related infrastructure.
Candidate must have in-depth considerable knowledge and hands-on experience understanding documenting and maintaining Network related infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Considerable knowledge and working experience with enterprise routers switches VPN concentrators firewalls wireless access points and load balancers (including the ability to document set up configure upgrade manage and troubleshoot)
Be capable of troubleshooting Network related infrastructure.
Identifies and diagnoses system problems by using line monitors diagnostic software test equipment.
Works closely with agencys IT infrastructure suppliers and stakeholders to gather requirements specifications and configurations to assure they are accurate and up to date.
Responsible for assisting in troubleshooting and resolving network issues impacting application performance and uptime.
Assist in overseeing the installation documentation and upgrades of various agency facility data network infrastructure.
Will oversee and collaborate with cloud and DevSecOps teams to optimize hybrid connectivity and SDWAN configurations.
Must have the ability to provide documentation network architecture topology diagrams IP schemes firewall rules and access controls when required.
Must have the ability to work independently on assigned projects.
Must have minimally obtained an industry standard networking certification (example: Cisco CCNA Juniper JNCIA- Junos etc.)

In-depth experience designing installing and troubleshooting local-area and wide-area enterprise networks.	Required	8 Years
Experience monitoring IT environments for compliance with information security architecture policies and standards.	Required	8 Years
Experience creating repeatable reliable scalable network architectures with fault tolerance.	Required	8 Years
Experience performance tuning monitoring systems statistics/metrics collection and disaster recovery.	Required	8 Years
Experience creating network diagrams using industry standard tools such as Visio etc.	Required	8 Years
Experience with networking features and protocols such as: ARP CDP EIGRP OSPF BGP VTP Etherchannel 802.1Q trunking HSRP QoS multicast IPsec RADIUS/TACACS SNMP BRI/PRI MPLS	Required	8 Years
Experience working with SDWAN	Preferred	3 Years
Experience working with network topology related to Cloud	Preferred	3 Years
Familiarity and experience working with cloud networking	Preferred	3 Years
