The Engineer Product Artificial Intelligence (AI) works within engineering groups to support the implementation of products containing artificial intelligence and leveraging machine learning (ML) to optimize engineering processes and advanced vehicle system control strategies. Product AI development work encompasses development and verification for integrated AI products for design and controls of engine hybrid and electric vehicles for components (electronic control modules motors drives drives engines generators energy storage cells sensors etc.) and for autonomous vehicle systems advanced suspensions systems material handling systems and other auxiliary systems for on-road and off-road applications.

Your Impact:

  • Design build and deploy machine learning and deep learning models to solve product-specific challenges (e.g. predictive analytics optimization computer vision natural language processing).
  • Collaborate with product development teams to integrate AI models into scalable production-ready systems.
  • Collect clean and preprocess large datasets to support training and evaluation of AI models.
  • Stay up to date on emerging AI technologies frameworks and best practices and proactively propose applications that improve product capabilities.
  • Monitor and refine AI and ML models to ensure reliability accuracy and efficiency in real-world use cases.
  • Partner with product managers UX/UI designers and engineering teams to align AI features with user needs and business goals.

Ensure all AI/ML systems are well-documented explainable and compliant with relevant ethical and regulatory standards. Deliver results according to Oshkosh and general industry engineering standards and processes.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS Azure Coudera or GCP) for AI/ML model deployment.
  • Apply CV/OCR/layout parsing to extract dimensions GD&T/tolerances and BOM from drawings; validate against standards and flag inconsistencies.
  • Knowledge and Capability with deep learning framework (PyTorch or TensorFlow) plus LLM tooling (e.g. LangChain/LlamaIndex vector stores embeddings).
  • Ability to generate production-grade scripts and templates (e.g. Python/C#/JS) that automate CAD/PLM/CAE workflows data cleansing report generation and dashboard scaffoldingcomplete with tests and linting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Regular attendance is required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Accredited Bachelors degree in computer science computer engineering software engineering or related field with Internship or Co-op experience with either artificial intelligence or machine learning applications.

Stand Out Qualifications:

  • Masters degree or higher in computer science computer engineering software engineering data engineering or data science.
  • Experience with computer vision NLP reinforcement learning or generative AI.
  • Knowledge of MLOps practices including CI/CD for machine learning and monitoring model drift.
  • Course project knowledge of mechanical drawings CAD and product lifecycle management.
  • Automotive or heavy duty on or off-road vehicle digital data bus including Ethernet or Controller Area Network (CAN) experiences a plus.
  • Experience with edge AI deployment or real-time inference in embedded systems.

Pay Range:

$68600.00 - $106300.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range individual pay is determined by various factors including the scope and responsibilities of the role the candidates experience education and skills as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
