Position Summary
Reports to Director of Talent Management
The Curriculum Specialist contributes to the design development and delivery of IFSIs learning programs for mental health professionals. This role plays a key part in ensuring consistency quality and alignment with IFS standards across all professional development offerings.
Working in close partnership with the Director of Talent Management the Curriculum Specialist designs and standardizes IFSIs clinical training programs by collaborating with trainers including hosting working groups and developing dynamic content that enhances participant learning experiences. The Specialist also plays a critical role in supporting internal teams and external partners to ensure programs are delivered with excellence and integrity.
A key early project will involve supporting the redesign of Level 2 Training programs including:
- Coordinating with senior trainers to refine and structure curriculum content
- Developing and organizing support materials (e.g. learning objectives agendas presentation slides facilitator guides)
- Integrating evidence-based adult learning best practices to enhance participant engagement and knowledge retention
The Curriculum Specialist ensures IFSIs programs are grounded in adult learning principles maintaining fidelity to the IFS model while creating a seamless engaging and accessible experience for participants.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance and clarify the existing high-quality Level 1/2/3 program curriculum materials following instructional design best practices while maintaining IFSIs unique highly experiential learning approach.
- Develop and maintain supporting resources such as learning objectives experiential exercise instructions core IFS meditations agendas facilitator guides trainer manuals
and slide decks.
- Curate a diverse virtual library of teaching and demonstration videos for trainers to utilize
during learning programs.
- Evaluate IFSIs professional programs for quality control gathering feedback for ongoing improvement.
- Prepare curriculum materials for continuing education (CE) review and approval.
- Translate complex clinical concepts into accessible structured learning experiences for diverse professional audiences.
- Review edit and refine learning materials to ensure clarity accuracy and consistency with IFSI design standards.
- Collaborate across teams and with IFS trainers to ensure all materials align with IFS principles program goals and adult learning best practices.
- Coordinate curriculum development timelines ensuring key deliverables are completed on schedule.
- Maintain version control and documentation of curriculum materials to ensure consistency and clarity across trainings.
- Communicate regularly with staff trainers and external IFS community about
curriculum projects and updates.
- Act as a resource to trainers who have questions on the curriculum or who are looking for support or guidance on adhering to the curriculum.
- Build a sense of engagement with the trainer community taking input along the way around the positive impact of curriculum development on the trainers and participants.
Skills and Attributes
- Familiarity with the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model or other clinical modalities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects stakeholder groups
and deadlines independently
- Comfort with iterative content development feedback cycles and collaboration with senior trainers and subject matter experts.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on curriculum development and implementation.
- Experience developing content for both live and virtual learning environments.
Role Requirements
- 35 years of experience in instructional design curriculum development or professional learning programs (preferably in mental health or adult education)
- Bachelors degree in Instructional Design Education Psychology or related field (masters preferred)
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and evidence-based instructional strategies.
- Commitment to diversity equity inclusion and community building
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite PowerPoint and basic learning management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging experiential learning materials and support live training events
- Deep interest in IFS and a desire to contribute to meaningful transformative education
