Job Summary

Midland University is seeking to recruit a pool of adjunct faculty members to teach one or more of our eight-week graduate courses in the Walker School of Education. All courses are taught exclusively online in a primarily asynchronous format. Please submit the materials listed below. If qualified candidates will be placed into an adjunct pool and called when/if needed.

Responsibilities:

Adjunct faculty members will teach in an exclusively online environment supporting students from a diverse range of backgrounds and professions within education (e.g. special education general education instructional facilitators aspiring educational leaders). The Master of Education in Leadership Teaching and Learning includes students pursuing the following concentrations: Principal Endorsement (Nebraska PK-8 7-12 or K-12) English as a Second Language High Ability Learners and Classroom Behavior Management. The Master of Special Education includes students pursuing their Behavior Intervention Specialist Endorsement. The Doctor of Education (EdD) focuses on Leadership and Innovation. Adjunct faculty will demonstrate a commitment to Midlands vision mission and the graduate programs Program Learning Outcomes.

Teaching responsibilities include: facilitating online courses; providing individualized feedback to students in a timely fashion; providing support and strategies to enhance students academic writing and scholarship; responding to student faculty and administration inquiries within 24 hours; participating in online or video discussions with students; bringing profession-specific knowledge and expertise into the online learning setting; fostering an online learning experience that is inclusive rigorous and engaging; and collaborating with students and faculty to ensure course and program learning outcomes are being met by students.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in a related field from an accredited university
  • Three to five years of professional or research experience within professional field
  • Experience teaching graduate-level courses or leading adult learning efforts in ones organization
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • A passion for learning teaching and leading
  • A strong understanding of graduate-level academic writing

Preferred:

  • Minimum two years of experience teaching online courses
  • Educational Leadership experience preferred (e.g. instructional facilitator principal superintendent experience)
  • Familiarity with APA 7th edition
  • Prior experience working with diverse populations in academic and professional settings
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to foster a collegial work environment that encourages change and innovation; and an ability to interact effectively and work productively cooperatively and collaboratively with a variety of individuals and groups

Wages paid on a per-course basis commensurate with education experience and individual strengths

Timeline: Hiring for these positions is cyclical and on-going dependent on program growth and the schedule of courses. This position will remain open until filled.
